I offer sessions in throwing or hand-building and mixed media techniques at my Brighton workshop. These are available to book for Spring 2021, subject to Covid restrictions.

Workshops can be for a half day (10am – 1pm or 2pm – 5pm) or a full day (10am – 5pm), for one or two people.

I offer sessions in throwing for beginners, throwing with porcelain, or hand-building with ceramics and mixed media at my Brighton studio. These are are available to book below, further sessions will become available at a later date (join my mailing list or email me for details).

Sessions can be tailored to your requirements and can cover throwing on the potter’s wheel using porcelain or stoneware clay;  or hand-building with clay and using mixed media. Follow-up or advanced sessions can include turning/trimming vessels and adding handles, colouring clay, glaze preparation and firing.

The sessions are designed to be suitable for any level, including beginners; those new to porcelain; those wanting to explore the use of mixed media and clay, or for those wishing to improve their existing skills.

Throwing sessions for beginners include centering the clay, throwing cylinders and cups. Hand-building sessions can include pinching, slab-building and coiling techniques in porcelain and stoneware, making spoons and other objects. Please get in touch to let me know what you would like to explore.

Sessions are held at Elaine Bolt’s ceramic workshop at Atelier 51, Providence Place Brighton, East Sussex. Any finished pieces will be glazed and fired separately by Elaine at a later date, using simple glazes in use at the studio. Finished pieces can be collected 8-10 weeks after the workshop date.

Price includes all firing and glazing of the pieces you make.

Lunch is not included but tea and biscuits are provided.

Currently workshop rules regarding Covid 19 mean that attendees will need to wear a face mask during the session and use antibacterial hand gel on entering and leaving the workshop. Elaine will also wear a face mask and follow the same rules.

Cancellation policy: If you can’t make the date you’ve booked, let me know and I will try to offer a suitable alternative date for your session. Sessions may be cancelled by you for any reason up to 10 days before the session with a full refund. For cancellations within 10 days, where I am not able to fill your booking with someone else, a refund will be given, minus a cancellation fee of 25%. However, if you need to cancel due to Covid 19 infection, self-isolation, or in response to government guidance, a full refund will be available at any time. If I need to cancel the session for whatever reason I will contact you to offer a suitable alternative date or offer a full refund.

Delivery costs

Delivery costs will be added to the order at the checkout. If you have ordered multiple items they will be grouped together and you will only be charged one delivery price.

I aim to despatch the items to you as soon as possible but please note the order may take up to a week to arrive with you in the UK and longer if it is an international delivery.

If you need the item to arrive for a specific date, please do let me know by adding an ‘order note’ at the checkout.

I use UK based courier services or Royal Mail for delivery, depending on the type and size of item ordered.

International Delivery

Where the item is to go to Europe, USA or other non-UK destination, please select the destination country at the checkout and the price will be adjusted to include your shipping location.

International delivery times may be longer than in the UK. If you need something by a specific date please do let us know.

Please note that customers are responsible for any import charges/duties that may be incurred and must comply with any local regulations.

I aim to avoid single-use plastic and new packaging as much as possible, preferring to reuse and recycle materials such as boxes and bubble-wrap as much as possible. My priority is also to make sure the package is as protective as possible for your order to arrive safely. If the item is a gift and you would like it to be sent gift-wrapped, please do leave an ‘order note’ at the checkout.

Refunds and Returns

All the items listed on the website are handmade and will have unique characteristics reflecting the use of natural materials and the nature of the making process. I take all reasonable care to ensure that the details, descriptions and images of products appearing on the website are accurate. I want you to be happy with your order, but if you are not completely satisfied, please do contact me to discuss a replacement item or return.

If the item is damaged in transit, please get in touch as soon as you can. Where damage is caused during delivery, I will endeavour to replace the item where possible, or your payment will be refunded.

If you need to return an item, you will be responsible for paying your return shipping costs. If you are shipping an item over £50.00 in value you should consider purchasing postage/shipping insurance cover. But please get in touch with me in the first instance to discuss options.
