Collaboration Test Pieces – further Exploration

Jeweller Amanda Doherty and I have been continuing our collaborative explorations and some of my pieces have some along a bit. See my previous post for more on the inspiration behind these ideas, including photos, sketches and earlier test pieces.

Here’s a little taster of how things have been progressing.

These dark oxide stained porcelain pieces were hand-built and textured to reflect some of the lines, rows, corrugations, stacks and street markings found on Brighton’s urban seafront. I particularly liked the horizontal lines that created a kind of chevron effect where the join was made.

Another set of tests explored surface markings that reflect the burr marks on some of Amanda’s jewellery. Creating small repetitive incised lines on the surface creates. a softened appearance on some pieces.
